A little about my journey

With more than 15 years of experience in education, I've had the opportunity to work with students across a wide range of ages, abilities, and learning needs. My journey began as a substitute teacher and paraprofessional while I worked toward my teaching degree. I went on to teach middle school mathematics and worked across all areas of special education, from self-contained classrooms to inclusion settings, serving students in grades K–12.

As a military spouse, my journey in education also took me to six different states. Teaching in different communities and school environments gave me the opportunity to learn from a variety of educators, families, and students. While mathematics has always been one of my greatest passions, my experience extends across elementary and middle school subjects and the many ways students learn.

Throughout my career, I saw firsthand the challenges students and educators face in the classroom. I saw students begin to doubt their abilities and heard the words, “I can't do this” and “I'm not good at that.”

My response was always the same:

Yet.

You can't do it yet. You haven't figured it out yet. We just haven't found the right approach yet.

That simple word represents something I've believed throughout my career: a student's current struggles do not define their potential. Sometimes, students need a different approach, more time, encouragement, or someone who believes in them while they work toward their next step.

A little more about me

When I'm not working on YET, I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring downtown Nashville, reading, puzzling (a New Girl reference), and hiking.

I'm also a proud fan of the Tennessee Titans—no jokes, please!—along with the Nashville Predators and Nashville Sounds.

I believe learning doesn't stop in the classroom. I love discovering new things through books, meeting new people, and traveling to different places. Whether I'm learning something new or spending time with the people who matter most, I value meaningful connections, personal growth, and making room for a little fun along the way.

What I hope for every student

At the heart of Your Education Team is a belief in people and the potential they carry.

I hope every student who works with YET feels understood, supported, and encouraged to keep going. I want students to recognize their strengths, build confidence, and discover that what feels difficult today doesn't have to define what they can accomplish tomorrow.

Because sometimes, the difference begins with one simple word:

Yet.
